27 Shooting Star Chase supported families got their skates on this week and headed to Hampton Court Palace ice rink to enjoy some festive fun on the ice.
The annual event invites supported families from our two hospices – Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher’s in Guildford to enjoy some exclusive time on the ice rink in the beautiful setting of the Palace. Excited families eagerly arrived to delight in the festive atmosphere, with children staying in-house at Shooting Star House taken to the historic setting by minibus so all could join in the fun.
As well as the exclusive use of the ice rink and with additional marshals on hand to ensure everyone could safely experience a lap or two round the rink, families were able to enjoy some food and drinks to help warm up post skate, including hot chocolate and mulled wine (for the parents of course!). All of which was courtesy of one of our corporate partners, Berenberg, who have supported us since early 2017.
The fantastic team from Hampton Court Palace ice rink ensured the rink was accessible to all – including manual and electric wheelchairs and pushchairs – with the energetic group of marshals relishing in being able to help whizz the children and teenagers around the ice – much to the children and parents delight!
One supported Mum said of the evening, “My son kept signing ‘more’ and ‘again’ to keep going around the rink! We’ve had a lovely drink and some food and a chance to chat with the other families – so that’s been really nice! It’s just very festive and gets you in the Christmas spirit!”
