Wonderful West Byfleet Golf Captain Terry O’Connor and Lady Captain, Susi Mackay Thrower, have chosen to support their local children’s hospice charity with a magnitude of magnificent challenges this year.
Rather than starting small, both Terry and Susi went big to kick off their fundraising at the beginning of this month – with a super skydive and triumphant triathlon!
Setting off at 6.30am on Saturday 3rd July, Susi began her triathlon, with a swim, cycle and a 10km run finishing at the golf club.
Friends, family and members of West Byfleet Golf Club were all there to cheer Susi over the finish line and congratulate her on her successful challenge.
It was then Terry’s turn on Monday 5th July to skydive from 15,000ft with a minutes freefall! Thankfully Terry landed in one piece (despite a classic practical joke he played on members at the club!) and between them they have raised £9,001 so far!
And their support isn’t stopping there as they are set to hold their Captain’s Day at the end of the month, a charity day in August and an extra special golf day in September!
Ellie Constable, Community Fundraiser said, “Terry and Susi have been amazing in their support so far, really going above and beyond with their personal challenges as well as putting so much time and effort into the planning of the events. A huge congratulations to them for their success with the skydive and triathlon and raising so much money already – we are so grateful as it will make such a difference to the families we support. A huge thank you to all those involved at the West Byfleet golf club and we wish them all the best for their forthcoming events!”
