Beloved TV duo Ant and Dec meet with families at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices

Two of Britain’s best loved presenters and national treasures, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, took time to visit families supported by Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, on Thursday 13 March, at Shooting Star House in Hampton.
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices supports families with a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or who have been bereaved, across south-west London, north-west London and Surrey.
The special visit began with Ant and Dec signing photos for families, providing a cherished keepsake for everyone involved. The pair took time to talk with families, creating lasting memories for all.
The Shooting Star team led a brief Makaton performance of the duo’s iconic 90’s song ‘Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble’, with support on the electronic drums from the charity’s music therapist. This was followed by a surprise rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ and the presentation of a birthday cake for the duo who are celebrating their 50th birthdays later this year. They were also presented with two personalised plates, lovingly created by some of the children supported by Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
Karen Sugarman, Executive Vice-President at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices commented: “We were thrilled to have Ant and Dec visit Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. It was an amazing experience to have two of Britain’s most beloved presenters meet the families we support. They were so generous with their time and bought Krispy Kreme donuts for the families to enjoy, which was so very thoughtful. We’re truly grateful to them for taking time out of their busy schedules to join us, and we wish them both a very happy birthday later this year!”
“Ant and Dec said of their visit to Shooting Star; “We had the most wonderful time meeting the incredible children and their families, along with the Shooting Star team who do such incredible work. It was an honour to be invited and commemorate the 20th anniversary of the exceptional Shooting Star House in Hampton.”
