Unveiling a fantastical mural at Christopher’s

A beautiful, fantastical piece of art has appeared on walls at our Guildford hospice, Christopher’s, thanks to a collaboration with the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in Farnham.
After several meetings to learn more about Shooting Star and our work, MA Illustration students created artwork in their individual styles. We wanted the final piece to reflect our work and the families we support, while being enjoyed by families, staff, volunteers and visitors. The chosen piece, created by students On and Reshma, was a favourite of our Care team for its vibrant and engaging design.
On shared, “We really appreciate the opportunity to create this mural. Being at Christopher’s painting in the background, we got to see how much love and care fills this space. We hope the mural adds a bit of colour and joy for the children, families and staff at Shooting Star.”
Reshma added, “With the mural I wanted to capture the magical imagination of children – where anything is possible, from flying friends to roaming dinosaurs. I hope it helps bring warmth, hope and comfort to the children and families who visit.”
Lucy Hooper, Shooting Star’s Social Media and Content Officer, led the project and shared, “We’re delighted to have worked with UCA students to create a beautiful piece of artwork for Christopher’s. As UCA alum, I understand how valuable it is to build local connections and showcase your work before graduating. We’re so grateful for their hard work, and it’s lovely to see the enjoyment it’s already bringing!”
A huge thank you to On and Reshma for creating such a wonderful piece and to everyone at UCA for making this collaboration possible.
