The Knit Before Christmas launches with a yarn-tastic Knit ‘n’ Natter!
We’ve officially cast on for The Knit Before Christmas, our festive knitting and crochet challenge, with a cosy Knit ‘n’ Natter morning at Shooting Star House on Tuesday 30 September.
A wonderful group of crafty supporters came together to kick-start the challenge with cups of tea, plenty of woolly chat, and knitting needles at the ready. From seasoned stitchers to eager beginners, everyone got stuck into creating festive novelties that will be sold as stocking fillers and tree decorations at Christmas fairs and markets across the season, all to raise vital funds for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
There’s still plenty of time to get involved throughout October, whether you’re a knitting ninja, a crochet queen, or just picking up a pair of needles for the first time! We’re looking for small, festive creations, from stars and trees to the classic Christmas pudding, that can be stuffed and sold with love.
If you need a little bit of inspiration, our volunteer knitters are on hand with simple patterns and handy tips and there’s even a free ball of wool up for grabs (while stocks last), thanks to some of our generous corporate supporters.
Lucy Isherwood, Individual Giving Fundraiser shares: “Our very first Knit n Natter event was a great success! It was lovely to see so many of our community come together to share their knitting knowledge and tips and get started on creating some festive Christmas novelties. There was plenty of chatter and lots of cake too and we look forward to the next event!”
