Sign up to the challenge by the first week of March 2026. You can set your own target as to how many cosies you’ll make – if you’re a novice knitter why not encourage friends or family to sponsor you for every one completed.
Easter Egg Cosy Knit
Calling all knitters – Help raise money and give people an amazing Easter egg-sperience! Whether you are a seasoned knitter or wanting to learn a new skill, we're on the lookout for as many knitted or crocheted creme egg cosies as possible. These will be sold as Easter Egg Hunt kits to raise vital funds for our work, and to protect eggs at Easter Egg hunts. We hope that families will buy these cosies to use year after year, starting a great new family tradition and supporting their local children's hospice. In February and March we'll also be running two of our popular 'Knit and Natter' sessions at Shooting Star House, giving you a chance to meet other knitters, drop off your creations and exchange stitching stories over a cup of tea and a biscuit. Whether you're a talented knitter or want to be one, we hope this event will be a wonderful way to welcome in spring as well as raise vital funds for the families we support. How it works
Step one
Step Two
Download our free knitting patterns for insparation, and come along to one of our Knit and Natter event at Shooting Star House in Hampton.
Step three
Start Knitting! You can either post your knits to us, or drop them off at Shooting Star House in Hampton. Please try and send all your knits to us by mid March at the latest, so we can sell them ahead of Easter.
Step four
Let people know about our Easter Egg hunt kits. Keep an eye on our community events page to see where we’ll be selling them, or buy through our website.

How else can I help?
Donate creme eggs.
We will need lots of creme egg sized eggs to combine with our cosies, so any you would like to donate would be very gratefully received. Please contact our community team on community@shootingstar.org.uk to arrange a time to drop them off. (Otherwise they might get eaten)

Ahead of Easter we’re raising money by selling Easter themed knitted egg covers combined with creme egg sized chocolate to raise money for. Whether you are new to knitting or have years of knitting experience, we would love for you to join our community challenge.

Yes, absolutely! We are always looking for festive inspired knitted and crochet novelties to raise money for Shooting Star.
There is no set deadline, but we will only be able to send out items up to a week before Easter, after that knits will be saved for next year.
