Please join us to celebrate and remember the lives of your loved ones in our first Light up a Star service. This remembrance service will include poems, music, and a moment of reflection as we all join together to light lanterns in memory of a loved one. The service will be followed by light refreshments and a chance to talk to other families who fundraise in memory for us.
To cover the costs of the event and support our work there is a suggested donation of £10 per ticket, but we understand that this may not be feasible for all and we are hugely grateful for all donations received. If you would like your donation to be added as a contribution to an existing tribute fund, please mention your loved one’s name when booking.
Your ticket will also include a Star Remembrance Lantern that we will post to you ahead of the event. We would encourage you to decorate your lantern in memory of your loved one and bring it with you to the service. If you are happy to do so, please do share any images of your decorated lantern on our dedication page where you can invite family and friends to visit at this poignant time of year. You can also use this page to set up a dedication for your loved one if you’ve not done so already.
There will be an opportunity to purchase Christmas cards and knitted novelties at the end of the service – the knitted novelties have been generously made for us by one of our supporters and all proceeds will go towards Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
As you may already know, it costs £10 million a year to run Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. Just 30% of our funding comes from the government, so we rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep our vital care service running. We support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional, and medical care.
If you are unable to join us on the day, perhaps you would like to leave a dedication to someone you love, or if you would like a lantern to light on the 5 December at home, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us via supportercare@shootingstar.org.uk.
Thank you for all your continued support and for making such a difference to the work that we do.
Please note that the venue is in the ULEZ zone. You can check if your car is compliant on the Transport for London website.
