The Winter Wonderwheels is a festive extravaganza and just the challenge to keep you motivated through the colder months! Everyday Superheroes are invited to cycle, walk, run, push, or anything in between around Dorney’s spectacular lake. You can choose from three fully accessible distances, so there is something for everyone.

The challenges embody the ‘anything goes’ ethos of the Superheroes Series, which includes the Superheroes Tri in August. There’ll be no cut-off times and all types of gadgets and gismos are welcome. You can utelise day chairs, handcycles, walking frames and trikes to tandems, race runners, blades and bikes.

Fly solo or unite your team to take on one of three enticing lakeside challenges. The only thing we ask is that all solo entrants and at least one team member considers themselves to have a disability. Everyone is welcome to bring a Sidekick to push, guide or simply accompany them around the course.

Warming winter food will be available for superheroes and spectators alike, in the event village. We’ll be turning up the festive fun to the max at this family-friendly event. Be sure to add plenty of Christmas sparkle to those Superhero costumes!

A wonderful location for Winter Wonderwheels

Our Superheroes deserve an epic setting. Dorney Lake, Home of the 2012 Paralympic and Olympic rowing events, has a level gradient and closed tarmac roads, which make it a natural choice for this unique series. Set in 450 acres of stunning park land, with plenty of free, on-site parking, this is a fantastic day out for all the family.

One of my priorities was to offer mass-participation events where Superheroes can use any type of equipment (or gadgets and gizmos as we like to call them) they need to complete the course, from adaptive bikes and powerchairs to race runners and baby buggies. I also love the idea of creating a series where people with all kinds of disabilities can feel confident that they’ll come together with like-minded individuals and crucially, feel in the majority rather than the minority.
