Volunteer Can Collectors
To assist the Shooting Star Children’s Hospices fundraising team by placing, collecting and replacing the charity’s collecting cans on a regular basis. Travel expenses reimbursed. We have a variety of vacancies in different areas:

Duties & Key Responsibilities
- Place charity collection boxes in pre-agreed shops, pubs, etc. in local area where required. The community team often get calls and emails from local businesses to alert us of full collection cans, they will then email you with the details to see if collection is possible.
- Make follow up visits to collect/ replace cans.
- Leave a signed receipt with every can collected.
- Return cans to either Shooting Star House or Christopher’s (options to bank the money and transfer if preferred, please do let us know)
- If returning to either reception, please fill out a donation form, ensuring you give the name and address of where the can has been collected from.
- Supply a thank you certificate to the local business.
- Check collection boxes are clean and in good condition with a unique number at the base before reissuing.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of the charity
- Valid driver's licence and car/ ability to travel across the selected area

Location:
Hybrid: Board meetings in person at Christopher's, Guildford or Shooting Star House, Hampton on Monday evenings, other meetings are mainly online. with an Away Day off-site in person.
Time:
Four evening Board and Four Committee meetings per year and an away day. Four Board meetings are normally held in person in Guildford or Hampton on Monday evenings, with one short online only meeting in addition; Committee meetings are usually held virtually, on Zoom, and normally last under two hours.
