The Knit Before Christmas
We’re looking for talented knitters and crocheters to help us create as many Christmas pudding covers and festive novelties as possible to keep chocolates cozy and help raise vital funds this Christmas. Whether you're an experienced crafter or keen to learn a new skill, we'd love you to get involved. We're also looking for supporters to help by buying chocolates to go with the covers and by selling them at schools, workplaces, community groups, Christmas fairs and local events. Every sale will help the children and families who rely on Shooting Star at Christmas, and the rest of the year. Whether you can knit, crochet, buy, sell, or simply spread the word, you can help make this year's campaign a success. Together, we can bring some festive cheer to our communities while raising much-needed funds for local families facing the toughest of times.

How it works
From September
September to Mid November
Start knitting! We’ll be hosting knit and natter sessions at Shooting Star House in Hampton again where you can meet other knitters, drop off your amazing creations and learn more about the work of Shooting Star.
October to November
We’ll need chocolate (for the knits, not just the fundraising office) these will go with our knits to create wonderful stocking fillers and tree decorations. We’ll have a donation pot open for your kind donations.
November to December
The knits have been knitted and the chocolate purchased – now is the time when we need your help to sell them. This could be at your child’s school, your workplace or local cafe, or a Christmas fete. Please email community@shootingstar.org.uk if you’d like to become one of our sellers.
Help sell our knitted novelities
Once ready we sell these wonderful knits at a range of fairs and on our website. However we are always looking for more places to sell them. If you are holding an event, or would like to sell some at your school or workplace, please get in touch with our community team.

Yes, absolutely! We are always looking for festive inspired knitted and crochet novelties to raise money for Shooting Star.
If you select to be contacted by post when you sign up to the challenge, you’ll receive an October knitting tracker so you can tick off all your progress!
There is no set deadline, however any knits received after mid November may have to be stored until next year.
