A very merry afternoon as Aston Merrygold visited Shooting Star House
Families were treated to a very special visit this August as we welcomed singer, dancer and performer extraordinaire, Aston Merrygold at Shooting Star House in Hampton.
Aston is currently starring as the Tin Man in the West End musical The Wizard of Oz, and even someone without a heart, like the Tin Man, would be hard pressed to not be moved by meeting children and young people, and their families supported by us.
One very special reason Aston took time to visit Shooting Star was to meet a supported young person, Chloe, who happens to be his biggest fan and is soon to celebrate her 18th birthday. As well as sharing in almost birthday congratulations, Aston spent time with the family, signing autographs and of course posing for some treasured photos – making some birthday wishes come true!
Aston said of the afternoon, “Visiting Shooting Star Children’s Hospice was an incredibly special experience. Meeting the children and families and witnessing the unwavering kindness and support from the hospice staff was truly heart-warming. The dedication of the volunteers and staff is inspiring, and it was an honour to be part of such a meaningful day.”

He brought so much joy meeting so many supported young people and their families. It was fantastic to see the reaction of Chloe who is one of Aston’s biggest fans. He came to surprise her and it was a moment I won’t forget. We look forward to welcoming Aston back in the near future.”
