Autumn fun fills Mega Monday and October drop-in
Half term brought plenty of autumn creativity and Halloween fun as families came together for our busiest-ever Mega Monday and a thriving October drop-in. From beady-legged spiders and curly pipe cleaner pumpkins to colourful clay creations, supported children and their families embraced the season through a range of hands-on activities. Pumpkins generously donated by Secrett’s Garden Centre were transformed with paints, ribbons and spooky sequins, creating a wonderful display of autumn colour.
Families also enjoyed creating sensory bins using a buffet of seasonal materials, including pasta, pine needles, sunflower seeds, twigs, leaves and even purple spaghetti, all infused with the warm scent of cinnamon sticks. The activity offered a rich exploration of textures, colours and smells.
Creative arts and crafts continued with vegetable printing, as children painted with potatoes, drew with carrots, used beans as pens and experimented with broccoli and corn on the cob to create unique spooky patterns and pictures.
No autumn celebration would be complete without themed refreshments. Our peeled satsuma pumpkins topped with cucumber stalks proved a popular treat and a great idea for anyone planning a Halloween party at home. Most importantly, it was wonderful to have so many families enjoying time together, making new connections and sharing experiences. By the end of the sessions, many left with armfuls of crafts, decorated pumpkins and happy memories from a fun-filled half term.

It was amazing to see families fully embracing the autumn and Halloween activities, getting stuck into sensory play, crafts and pumpkin decorating. The atmosphere throughout both sessions was fantastic.”
