From glow trails to reindeer tales!

January 6, 2026

Families enjoyed a truly festive season in 2025, with a series of Christmas events bringing moments of joy, wonder and connection throughout the winter period.

One of the highlights took place on the evening of 29 December, when families visited RHS Wisley to experience the much-loved Glow trail. As darkness fell, the gardens came alive with colourful light installations, festive decorations and striking water displays. Children and adults alike were captivated by the atmosphere, before gathering around open fires to toast marshmallows together. The evening concluded with a warm meal, offering a comforting end to a magical night.

Reflecting on the experience, Julie, one of our fantastic volunteers said: “What a wonderful time we all had at Wisley Glow. The children were captivated by the many different lights and the final light show with fire was a big hit. Toasting marshmallows was great fun and enjoyed by all, and the evening was rounded off with a lovely hot meal to warm everyone up.”

Festive celebrations continued with a range of other special experiences for families. Some were invited to meet two real-life reindeers at a supporter’s home in Churt, during their final stop before returning to the North Pole.

Families were able to take photos, get up close to the reindeer and fully embrace the Christmas spirit. Santa even arrived in his sleigh, delivering a personal gift to every supported and bereaved child and offering families the chance to capture a treasured photograph together.

These events created meaningful moments and lasting memories, highlighting the importance of coming together during the Christmas season and sharing in its joy, warmth and magic.
