Light Up a Star service remembers loved ones
For the third year, All Saints Church in Hampton was filled with love and reflection on 1 December, as we welcomed families, friends and supporters from the community to come together for our Light Up a Star service. The service, organised by Shooting Star, honoured the memory of loved ones who have died, offering comfort and space for remembrance.
The service began with a lovely rendition of This Christmas performed by Iris and Caspar, in memory of Rubi.
Attendees were then warmly welcomed to the church by Reverend Donna Williams, with our Executive Vice-President, Karen Sugarman, welcoming everyone to the service, before inviting attendees to join in the lighting of lanterns, in memory of loved ones. With Karen lighting the very first lantern in memory of the babies, children and young people who have been supported by Shooting Star.

Throughout the service there were musical performances, including Caroline Ross with her beautiful harp, accompanied by our Music Therapists, Henry and Regina.

After the service, attendees came together to enjoy some refreshments and baked treats, kindly provided by Shooting Star staff and volunteers.

Giv McMullan, Supporter Experience Manager at Shooting Star shared, “The Light Up a Star service was a very special night. It was so wonderful to see everyone come together to honour their loved ones and share moments of comfort and hope. Thank you so much to everyone who attended, performed and to all our wonderful staff and volunteers for their involvement, we are so grateful.”
