Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is thrilled to announce new Patron
We’re thrilled to announce that comedian, TV presenter and author, Joel Dommett, is to become a Patron of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
Joel has supported Shooting Star Children’s Hospices for the past six years, hosting two comedy nights and being compere for Tony Hadley’s virtual concert fundraiser in 2020.
Joel recently visited our west London hospice, Shooting Star House, spending time meeting families, volunteers and staff. He made a fantastic surprise entrance as a The Masked Singer contestant disguised as a panda and later took time to join in with a mask making arts and crafts session with the children.
Joel joins our existing Vice-Presidents and Patrons including Dame Joan Collins DBE, Simon Cowell, Tony Hadley MBE, Michael Ball OBE, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Philip Glenister and Samantha Bond. Our Royal Patron is HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh.
Joel has spoken passionately about the work of the charity, “The impact of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is unbelievably important for people who feel like there are no other options. When you are presented with something as horrific as what the families are having to deal with, just feeling like you have some form of hope in that world of darkness must be unbelievably helpful. I am proud to become a Patron and look forward to helping to create further awareness and spending time meeting more families.”
Karen Sugarman MBE, Executive Vice-President said, “It’s an absolute honour to have Joel join us a Patron. We know that he will bring so much happiness to the children, young people and their families and his visits to our hospices will bring light, laughter and great awareness of our work. It’s wonderful to welcome Joel into the Shooting Star Children’s Hospices family.”
