Shooting Star Children’s Hospices welcomes two new Patrons

March 26, 2026

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is delighted to announce that award-winning actress Brenda Blethyn OBE and singer, songwriter and producer Julie Forsyth have joined the charity as Patrons.

Brenda has been a devoted supporter for many years. Most recently, she represented Shooting Star at the ICAP Charity Trading Day, helping to secure an incredible £190,000 over two years. She has also officially opened our Godalming shop and visited both Christopher’s and Shooting Star House to meet families.

Julie continues the legacy of her father, Sir Bruce Forsyth, who hosted the charity’s first ever event in 2003. Most recently, Julie performed alongside our Vice-President, Tony Hadley MBE, at The Shooting Star Ball, helping to raise vital funds. She has also spent time visiting families at Christopher’s and Shooting Star House.

Karen Sugarman MBE, Executive Vice-President said, “It’s an absolute honour to have Brenda and Julie to join us as Patrons. They’ve both already shown great loyalty to the charity, giving the gift of their talent and support. They’re thrilled to take on their new roles and have pledged to do whatever they can to support us.”

This exciting announcement follows the recent appointment of long-standing Patron Michael Ball OBE, who has supported us since 2009, as a Vice-President at the end of last year.
