Dame Joan Collins brought some Christmas cheer to families supported by Shooting Star Chase by treating them to an exclusive Afternoon Tea at The Dorchester in London.
The international superstar spent time with families and, with a little bit of help from Santa Claus, handed out presents in The Gold Room at the world famous hotel on Park Lane.
Dame Joan said: “Christmas is a magical time, and a time for family unity so I thought it would be wonderful to put on something for children and their families to enjoy and remember. It’s become a bit of a tradition. We’ve done something like this every year for the past five, six… ten years I think. Some children I’ve seen since they were born practically. I think it brings a little bit of Christmas cheer into their lives.”
Dame Joan said her own Christmas will be a big family affair in London. “This Christmas will be family oriented, as it always is. We’re here in London, with my family, my sister’s children and grandchildren have come over and we’ll all be spending it together.”
The Afternoon Tea was the latest in a series of generous activities Dame Joan has put on as patron of Shooting Star Chase. She regularly donates clothes from her personal wardrobe to the charity’s retail shops and has appeared on Celebrity Deal or No Deal and Celebrity Who wants to be a Millionaire to raise money for the charity.
She received her Damehood earlier in 2015 for years of charity work and was nominated by Shooting Star Chase.
