Distribution Centre Volunteer
This role will help generate income for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices by helping to lift, shift, sort and sift donations so that they can be distributed to our shops. No two days are the same and you will ideally be someone who enjoys being part of a team, a quick worker with an interest in clothes and bric a brac, with an eye for detail and energy and enthusiasm.

Lansbury Business Estate, Lower Guildford Road, Knaphill, Woking GU21 2EP
Time:
Any day Monday to Friday, 4 hours or more between 9am and 1pm and 11 am and 3pm
Duties and key responsibilities
- Sorting, identifying and preparing good quality items to be distributed to our retail stores
- Organise stock in a timely and logical manner ensuring care is taken to minimise damages
- With training, identify items that may be suitable for alternative recycling revenue streams
- Working with like-minded volunteers and staff.
- Comply with manual handling and Health and Safety requirements to ensure own safety and that of colleagues
Essential Skills and Experience
- Interest in clothes and bric a brac
- Reasonable level of fitness to be able to stand, lift and move items with ease
- Reliable
- Enthusiastic and Cheerful
- Quick worker
- Attention to detail
- Enjoy working as a part of a team
- Able to volunteer for 4 hours or more per week between 9am and 1pm and 11am and 3pm weekdays at our Distribution Centre in Knaphill
- Having use of a car is desirable due to the location
