Shop Maintenance Volunteer

This Volunteer role is required to assist the Maintenance team with DIY, decorating and general upkeep of our shops.   It is a non-clinical role that requires enthusiasm, dedication, flexibility, lots of energy, and for the Volunteer to be friendly and approachable whilst maintaining boundaries and confidentiality.

Based at Shooting Star House or Christopher’s but required to work across all sites including all shops.

This role would require travel between all of our shops as needed.
Time:
Preferred weekly half day shift; Monday to Friday – either am or pm

Role Purpose

  • This Volunteer role is required to assist the Maintenance team with DIY, decorating and general upkeep of our shops. It is a non-clinical role that requires enthusiasm, dedication, flexibility, lots of energy, and for the Volunteer to be friendly and approachable whilst maintaining boundaries and confidentiality.

Duties and key responsibilities

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with aspects of maintenance on a day to day basis at our Storage Unit and 7 Shops.
  • Tasks to include minor repairs, decorating, minor building or carpentry projects.
  • Tasks will be allocated according to the Volunteer’s skills and past experience.
  • Occasionally may be asked to complete tasks at the hospices
  • Drive own vehicle or one of the hospice vans if available.
  • DBS checked – all Volunteer roles based at the hospice require us to carry out a DBS check – this is a simple online procedure.

Essential Skills and experience

  • Ability to carry out simple DIY, decorating and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Initiative and common sense.
  • Preferred weekly half day shift; Monday to Friday – either am or pm.
  • Car/Van owner and driver – full clean licence
