Sibling Event Volunteer

This volunteer role is to support the event organiser with activity days and events for the siblings of our supported families which helps ensure that the children attending have the best time possible. These events may be in-house or at a nearby venue.

ad-hoc mostly school holidays and weekends

Duties and key responsibilities

  • To assist with the setting up and tidying away of any planned activities.
  • Helping to run the activities during the event as instructed by the event lead.
  • Engaging with the children to ensure they have a fun time.
  • Meeting and greeting as attendees arrive.
  • Helping with families signing in and filling out any consent paperwork that has been left for them if reception need help
  • Helping with serving hot and cold drinks.
  • Ensuring they are familiar with the Risk Assessment relating to any risk factors that may come with the craft or activity on offer.

Essential Skills and experience

  • Experience of working with children desirable
  • Enthusiasm & energy
  • Willing to get involved and use initiative, especially at busy events.
  • To help in the swimming pool (ideal not essential).
  • Willing to stay for debrief at the end, to share everyone’s experience of the event and to learn for next time.
  • An enhanced & barred DBS will be required, as well as a volunteer induction and online training modules appropriate to the role.
