Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO, Royal Patron of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices welcomed Vice-Presidents, Patrons, celebrity guests, trustees and ambassadors of the charity to St James’s Palace last month.

The Duchess chatted to guests including Patrons Michael Ball OBE and Joel Dommett, celebrity supporters Don Black CBE, Brenda Blethyn OBE, Charlie Mullins OBE and Julie Forsyth, together with many key supporters of the charity.

The Duchess gave a moving speech, highlighting the incredible support the guests give to the charity, who supports babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across Surrey, south-west London and north-west London.

Karen Sugarman MBE presented The Duchess with a special handmade plate made at the hospice to commemorate the occasion.

“We were deeply honoured to be at St James Palace and share the most memorable evening with so many of our wonderful supporters and recognise and thank them for all they do,” Karen Sugarman, Executive Vice-President MBE at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices said.

“We are incredibly proud of our Royal Patron, The Duchess of Edinburgh, who has remained by our side for 22 years and is dearly loved and cherished by us all at the charity.”
