Mega Mondays summer takeover

This summer, Mega Mondays were back, with a record number signing up to enjoy four weeks of fun, creativity and hands-on activities at Shooting Star House in Hampton.

The popular sessions offered a mix of themed arts, crafts and play, giving families the chance to spend quality time together during the school holidays. Thanks to the sunny weather, many activities also spilled outdoors, allowing children and parents to make the most of the garden spaces.

One of the highlights was Getting Out in the Garden sessions, where budding artists painted giant flowers and created miniature gardens to take home. Meanwhile, the popular Chill Out and Go Again sessions gave families the opportunity to revisit some of their favourite crafts from previous events.

The biggest hit of the summer may well have been the science-themed Mega Monday, which transformed the space into a laboratory of colourful experiments. Children and parents got stuck into making rainbows with milk and food colouring, exploring coffee filter chromatography, creating bubbling volcanoes and, of course, mixing up plenty of slime.

While the activities delighted children, parents were equally enthusiastic, with many appreciating the chance to enjoy the messy fun without having to tackle the clean-up at home.

Hilary Pearce, Care Events Coordinator said: “It’s so lovely to see parents and children doing activities together. Sometimes, when the children have had enough, it’s the parents who stay behind to finish the job!”

The record attendance and positive feedback from families made this summer’s Mega Mondays a huge success, providing opportunities for creativity, connection and plenty of memorable moments along the way.
