Prestigious title awarded to Shooting Star Nurse Consultant
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is delighted to share Tracie Lewin-Taylor, Nurse Consultant in our Paediatric Palliative Care team, has been honoured with the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse by community nursing charity, The Queen’s Nursing Institute.
An awards ceremony was held in London on Friday 8th December, where Tracie was presented with her certificate, recognising her commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership.
Tracie, alongside our team of specialist nurses, support hundreds of families across Surrey, south-west London and north-west London, by providing expert end of life and symptom management care at Christopher’s, our Guilford hospice, and within the community and hospital settings.
“I feel privileged to have been presented with the title of Queen’s Nurse”, said Tracie.
“I have worked in community nursing roles for the past 15 years, within paediatric specialist palliative care teams.
“I am passionate about service development and offering exemplary care to children, young people and their families.
“It is also very important to me to work strategically to improve patient experience and ensure we work towards a trained and sustainable workforce.
“I am very much looking forward to connecting with fellow Queen’s Nurses and being part of the QNI network.”
Those with the Queen’s Nurses title benefit from development workshops and a shared professional identity. Registered nurses with more than five years’ experience are eligible to enter, with 564 awarded the title last year.
“On behalf of the QNI, I would like to congratulate Tracie and welcome her as a Queen’s Nurse”, Dr Crystal Oldman CBE, Chief Executive of the Queen’s Nursing Institute said.
“Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality health care across the country.
“The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers.
“We look forward to working with Tracie and all other new Queen’s Nurses who have received the title this year.”
A huge congratulations to Tracie from all of us at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
