Early Evening Volunteer Receptionist – Hampton

The Evening Reception Volunteer role is to ensure that visitors attending appointments during our extended opening hours receive a warm, professional and reassuring welcome. By providing a friendly first point of contact, volunteers help create a calm and compassionate environment for everyone visiting the hospice.

Time:
alternate Thursdays 5pm-7pm (role share with another volunteer)

Duties and key responsibilities

  • Welcome visitors, families and professionals in a warm, respectful and non-judgemental manner.
  • Sign visitors into and out of the building in accordance with hospice procedures.
  • Notify therapists or staff that their visitor has arrived.
  • Respond to straightforward enquiries.
  • Report any concerns or issues promptly to a member of staff, including safeguarding concerns.
  • Handing over to any staff still present in the building where any doors/windows will need to be shut/locked

  • A warm, friendly and approachable manner
  • Calm and reassuring.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Comfortable meeting people from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Good listeners with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Respectful of confidentiality.
  • Able to remain calm if the reception area becomes busy.
