A look inside our Bereavement Café
As the number of bereaved families we support has more than doubled, we have extended the ways we provide support. This includes our weekly Bereavement Café at Shooting Star House in Hampton.
Parents, siblings, grandparents, friends and family members can drop in on Thursdays to come together and enjoy a coffee with our Family Support Workers and Counsellors who are there to chat and listen.
Schools can bring groups of pupils. Teachers identify those who were close to the child who has died and chat openly about their experience of grief. They can decorate stones in memory of their friend and place them in the fountain in Shooting Star House garden, where other young people have done the same in memory of their friend.
A school teacher shared, “Shooting Star does a lot of mindfulness and well-being activities in which the students can have some time to reflect and take their mind off things. There are trained people there that can talk with them.”
Your support helps us to provide a range of events where family members can build a support network with others who are grieving for their child, brother, sister or grandchild. Please consider donating today.
