An ‘ice’ time had by all!
Our Christmas festivities got off to a skate start with our much-loved annual trip to the ice rink at Hampton Court Palace, where families could enjoy some exclusive time on the rink.
150 family members wrapped up warm and took off to enjoy laps on the ice, complete with a beautiful backdrop of the palace and a huge Christmas tree by the rink with twinkling lights.
Special skating marshals were on hand to add some extra speed and adaptable equipment was available so children in wheelchairs and buggies could enjoy a whizz round the ice with their families.
The event is only possible thanks to the amazing support from Arena Group, who run the rinks, and allow Shooting Star to have a private 2-hours on the rink. Thanks also go to the fantastic staff and skate marshals at Hampton Court Palace ice rink, who were wonderfully welcoming and helpful and ensured those who wanted to go fast, certainly did!
Also, thanks to Novacyt, who again sponsored the event, offering up a warming winter feast for everyone post the ice!
Arena Group shared, “It’s agreed by all of us that the Shooting Star evening is our favourite event of the season,” and “Those infectious smiles have a way of washing all troubles away.”
Anne Carey, Lead Corporate Engagement Manager at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices said, “This is always such a special event and this year was no exception. It was so lovely to see families having such a great time and for everyone to be able to get involved thanks to the special equipment and skate marshals. A huge thanks to Arena Group, Hampton Court Palace and Novacyt for making the event possible, it was clear by all the happy faces how much it was enjoyed.”
