Bereaved family share their story at D&G Group’s Indian Summer Ball held in aid of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices
On Thursday 13 October, D&G Group held the ‘Indian Summer Ball’ in aid of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices at Battersea Evolution. An evening of celebration and fundraising, the event welcomed Jo and Kasandra Masango, who shared their story of how we’ve supported them as a family.
D&G Group has been a corporate partner of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices since 2007. Over the years they have supported us with a range of events and challenges, including holding the Test Match and Comeback Ball to taking on the London Marathon and more. Over this time, they have raised an amazing near £500,000 for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
This year’s Ball was hosted by impressionist and comedian, Rory Bremner, and 600 revellers were entertained by acts including soprano Olivia Singleton, rap act Abandoman, Garage icons DJ Luck and MC Neat; as well as on stage portrait artist Dave Smart, who produced a stunning portrait of Her Majesty the Queen in the time it took guests to eat their main course. The guests were also privileged to hear from England football legend, John Barnes, who shared some stories of his football life and gave a rendition of his famous rap.
Reflecting on the Ball, Alex Rennie, Corporate Relationship Manager at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices said, “A huge thank you to the team at D&G Group who year on year pull out all the stops to raise vital funds for Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. The Indian Summer Ball was full of fun, live entertainment and incredible fundraising and we can’t thank their guests enough for their generosity on the night. Their support allows us to help make every moment count for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families.
The supported Masango family also kindly spoke at the event, with absolute strength and courage, they shared their story and how Shooting Star Children’s Hospices had supported them. It was great that that Jo and Kasandra were there for guests to meet, and Jo in particular was delighted to meet his hero, John Barnes, making it an overall amazing night for everyone!”
