Celebrating our community of fabulous fundraisers and supporters over the festive season

We are always blown away by the amazing support we receive, no more than over the festive season. From fantastic fundraising to gift donations and treating families to amazing experiences – we are truly grateful! Here’s just a small round-up of some of the super people in the community who have helped us over the Christmas period.

We’ve had marvellous music, from Army Music Core who popped by Christopher’s to play some Christmas favourites while families and staff enjoyed lunch. There was also singing for support, as long-term supporters Rock Choir South West London sang at London Waterloo station, raising over £700; and Kingston Choral Society sang some Christmas carols at The Bentall’s Centre in Kingston, raising £550! Thank you to Kew College Prep, St Catherine’s Twickenham and Gunnersbury School all of whom participated in carol singing at London tube stations.

London Irish Foundation, Njinga Cycling, Widow’s Sons Masonic Bikers Association and Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital all donated/delivered presents to Shooting Star House and spread some festive cheer – and congratulations to Njinga Cycling on their 11th Santa Cycle!

It was all about the Christmas jumpers for Hoe Valley School, as their students, sixth formers and teachers donned their best festive wear in aid of us. Tormead School, Longacre School, Ashton House School and St Catherine’s School also put together fabulous festive fundraisers!

The Friary Guildford set up a ‘Giving Tree’, allowing the public to take a tag from the tree, buy a gift and drop it off at the centre to be donated to Shooting Star and GV3 Swim Smooth took the plunge for a special 4km swim, raising £660 and counting.

The Dazzling Diamonds raised an amazing £1,175 over their two shows in Addlestone, the most money raised for a raffle and Lovelight Photography hosted a special ‘Festive Open Day’ in aid of us, including free festive photos and treats to be enjoyed by visitors. And to Stephen Leslie Products, for supporting us throughout the year by donating tickets and fundraising.

Thank you to all the churches, volunteers, schools, kind individuals and businesses for supporting us. Whether that’s by donations, selling novelties and crafts, or decorating your house, you are all so valued and you have made a difference in helping us make every moment count.
