GLOW: A sensory celebration of light!
Earlier this month, Shooting Star House was transformed into a dazzling, glowing wonderland for our GLOW event! The entire space came alive with UV lights, neon face paint and a vibrant disco, offering a mix of music genres to get everyone moving. Families were surrounded by glowing slime, fun games and a variety of recently donated technology to explore and interact with.
GLOW celebrated the magic of light in every form, with children creating beautiful Diwali crafts that they could take home and treasure, making it a fun and meaningful experience. The atmosphere was pure fun as families, from siblings to grandparents, came together to enjoy a multi-sensory adventure.
In our Sparkle room, families enjoyed creating Diwali-themed crafts, such as clay Diya-making, salt-firework art and lantern-making, whilst being surrounded by beautiful Diwali decorations. There was even the opportunity to get temporary henna tattoos, adding a little extra sparkle to the celebration.
Hannah Pickup, Events Assistant, commented: “It is so valuable to be able to host an event that is so immersive for all of the children and families we support. As well as being a safe space to meet others and have fun for siblings, parents and grandparents, GLOW is an event that engages every sense in a unique way, meaning that it caters to all the children and young people we support, regardless of the complexity of their condition.”
Everyone dressed in a mix of white or neon clothing, making sure to shine under the UV lights and add to the glowing vibe! To enhance the fun, families adorned themselves with temporary glowing tattoos, body paint – fully immersing themselves in the luminous fun.
A special highlight of the event was our Lifelites Magic Carpet, a sensory experience that transported children to magical worlds through interactive visuals and sounds – providing a truly immersive journey for young imaginations.
Our GLOW event brought families together in a celebration of light, creativity, and joy, creating memories that will shine brightly long after the event ended. Events like these only possible thanks to our generous supporters, please consider donating today.
