A skate time at Hampton Court Palace
‘Tis the season to be jolly, and where better to get in the Christmas spirit than ice skating at Hampton Court Palace. This much-loved event returned on Tuesday 29 November, where families enjoyed an exclusive session just for them to zoom, dance and twirl on the ice!
The families arrived at the ice-skating rink to enjoy this cosy and festive event, complete with a huge Christmas tree by the rink adorned with twinkling lights. One by one, the families entered the ice-skating rink, with special skating marshals on hand and adaptable equipment available so children in wheelchairs and buggies could have fun on the ice with their families.
There were over 30 families who came together to enjoy the skating, with a huge thanks to the Arena Group, who run the rinks, and the amazing staff at Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink, who were fabulously welcoming and helpful. In particular, the skate marshals who looked after everyone on the rink, and even whizzed wheelchairs around for an extra exciting experience.
Also, thanks to Novacyt, who again sponsored the event, allowing a wonderful feast to be provided to everyone after the ice skating, with the team from Miss Polly Café putting on a gorgeous spread. On the topic of glorious foods and treats, the Thames Club in Staines also donated advent calendars that were given out at the end.
Paige Bale, Family Support Worker at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices said, ” This was another great evening at Hampton court ice rink, where families enjoyed an hour of skating and then warmed up with hot chocolate and yummy treats. Thanks to Miss Polly for organising the spread, it really was tasty. Everyone had great fun. The team at the ice rink were truly amazing, zooming the siblings around in their spare wheelchair on the ice. Allowing them to see and feel how their siblings get around on the ice.”
