Sharing Ellie’s story in partnership with Hospice UK & the National Garden Scheme

August 16, 2024

“Ellie had music therapy at Christopher’s. At the end of her sessions, she would be asked if there was anything that she wanted to know about her condition, and she always said no.

One day she said yes.”

In one of the hardest moments on Ellie and her family’s journey, it was the garden at our hospice, and a sculpture within it, that helped them find a way forward. Ahead of us opening our garden at Christopher’s this Sunday, we are honoured to share Ellie’s story, as told by her mum Kim, in this new video created in collaboration with Hospice UK and the National Garden Scheme.

The National Garden Scheme have supported Hospice UK since 1996, donating over £7 million across the partnership. In November 2023, the National Garden Scheme donated a further £450,000.

To celebrate the partnership, each year Hospice UK create a film in collaboration with the National Garden Scheme which showcases the positive impact outdoor spaces have on people and families using a hospice. Shooting Star Children’s Hospices were delighted to be chosen as part of this collaboration and we are incredibly grateful to be able to share Ellie’s story and shed light on how the garden at Christopher’s benefits so many families we support.

You can see Ellie’s Cow for yourself this Sunday as we open our gardens as part of the National Garden Scheme.
