David Walliams raised a smile – and a lot of laughs – when he visited Shooting Star Chase children’s hospice on Thursday (15 December).
The star took a break from his busy schedule to drop in at Christopher’s in Guildford, one of two hospices run by the charity which cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across London and Surrey.
David spent time chatting with families and got into character to read extracts from his latest children’s book World’s Worst Children and bestseller Gangsta Granny. He then gave dozens of signed books and CDs to families at the hospice.
He later joined families, staff and volunteers to sing happy birthday to the hospice, which is celebrating its 15th birthday this year.
David Walliams said: “It was a fantastic visit; so brilliant to see how happy the kids were and how dedicated all the staff and volunteers are.
“It’s really fun to meet the kids and read to them. We celebrated that it’s 15 years since Christopher’s opened, which as incredible achievement when you consider how these places are funded and how hard everyone has to work to enable them to run. It’s amazing to see and very inspiring.”
